When Husband I were first hanging out and even when we first
officially started dating I would get so excited when he’d text me. I was one
of those annoying people who would constantly check my phone in a movie just to
see if he’d sent me something. If I were hanging out with others a {large} portion
of my attention was focused on my phone and if I was away from my phone for a
while it was like Christmas to look at it and have a text from him! I, of
course, still love hearing from him and I can be with him for 72 hours straight
and still just want to hang out with him – but there is something different
right at the beginning. A different giddiness and thrill at the possibility and
potential of something special. Every time I’d get a call, text, date invite….really
any interaction it was a validation that this other person - this handsome man
- liked me, thought I was cool and worth his attention and time investment.
The beginning is so magical…and I realized the other day
that I get the same thrill from blogging! I have a crush on blogging! Whenever I check my blog and I see
that I have a new follower I am giddy and get the same feelings of acceptance!
With every follower I feel happy/surprised/validated that another person likes
me and wants to start a virtual friendship (which, by the way I have at least
ten friends that I think about frequently that I only know via blogging – how special
is that?!?). So thanks for following! Thanks for creating a beginning with me!
So cute, I was exactly the same way with my husband and it's totally true for blogging too! Every time someone leaves a comment I get super excited! I don't know the feeling is ever going to get old :)

I totally agree with all of this! I'm the same way... I get so giddy whenever I get a new follower or a new comment! It's funny how much we thrive on validation, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm a new follower from the blog hop, and I can't wait to read more from you!
Stop by sometime!
What's in a Name?
Oh! I think my comment disappeared! Anyhow, I completely agree that it feels exciting and validating to gain another follower and or comment!

I also am your newest follower, btw!
DeleteOh my gosh, I feel the same way. I love finding new followers and getting to know them better! There are so many exciting people out there. Speaking of which, I'm totally lame and completely spaced on throwing the holiday link up up on my blog. Never fear, I've remembered and I'm gonna get on that ASAP. Blame it on mommy brain.
