Silent Night, Holy Night

I got/copied this idea from Jennifer at DearLillie, via Pinterest. She used to have a template up but people were abusing it and recreating her creation for profit (not what it was meant for!). She's streamlined her process, but her first pillows were made with sharpie...which is what I did here.

They do look good with the red pillows - hurrah for having Christmas colors in my house year round (they'll also be great for Valentines and are for Miami Heat and San Francisco 49ers the rest of the year).

I looked at Dear Lillies pillows and free handed/copied/eyeballed them with a pencil on a separate piece of paper. I went over the pencil with a sharpie a few times to make it darker. Then put the material (I used osnaburg, I think it has a nice refined burlap/natural look) over the words and traced them through with black permanent marker (a medium sized tip). The sharpie bled in a few spots :( but I'm still pleased as punch with myself on this!

I then took the material squares and sewed them onto my current/everyday pillows with a loose stitch that I can easily unpick after the season. I thought this was a great idea cause I could just make holiday squares throughout the year and not have to have whole pillows - but what I should have done is just make a slip cover because this will be too much wear and tear on the pillow to unpick each time. But at least this means that I get to make different pillows next year or try my hand at these again!

And, of course, a picture of Stella baby having to lay on top of the pillows - she's so glad I made them :). But look at that face! I called her name and she cocked her head; melts my heart.

    1. Seriously - as much as I love crafting, I love crafts that I have all the supplies for, will turn out without being ridiculously talented, and take less than an hour! You can definitely handle this!

      Thanks for stopping by!
